A year in review – 2017
On behalf of all of us – Jim, Porter, Fiona, McKenzie, Kevin, and Chris – Thank you!
2017 has been a great year here at Rose Bike. Some of the highlights:
The beginning of the year was marked by excellent conditions for fat biking! Many of our new and returning customers were introduced to this fun way to keep biking year-round.
Despite a slow spring, our thoughts turned to clear roads and snow free trails. Group rides continued to leave from the shop for beginner and experienced riders, road and mountain, women and coed.
We believe in bikes and we’re more than just a store. This summer we purchased a fleet of Trek bikes for the Mandela Fellows, a group of visiting scholars and leaders from Africa, to enjoy all that Orono had to offer. The bikes were then donated to the Orono school system for their PE program, inspiring the next generation of cyclists.
Winds in excess of 60 mph tore through New England in late October. The resulting devastation brought out the very best of our community. Trails were cleared by volunteers from the Orono Land Trust , the University of Maine Forests and folks like you. It was incredible to see the time and effort invested in opening our trails. Thank you!
Falling trees and gale force winds aside this has been an amazing fall and the winter is shaping up to be great. Our Monday night and Saturday morning rides continue to be a blast. The snow and cold turns our minds to fat bikes (and plus bikes), skis and skates.
Boots the cat continues to keep us entertained and loved. He also pitches in at the register when the store gets busy. Have you met Boots yet?
None of this would have happened without YOU – our customers! Not only do you give us the reason to open up the shop every day, your enthusiasm for riding and for discovering all that biking has to offer has inspired us over and over again, every day. We have over 130 combined years worth of riding in our staff, and we still learn new things from you. THANK YOU for being a part of Rose Bike – here’s to a great 2018!
